Official Nikon D800 / D800E Samples

Nikon has posted a number of full-resolution sample photos taken with the brand new Nikon D800 and Nikon D800E digital single-lens-reflex cameras. All of the sample images were captured in raw format and converted using Capture NX 2. The downloadable JPEG files range from 17.01 to 33.06 megabytes in size, and are apparently meant to demonstrate the resolution capabilities of the 36-megapixel FX sensor, first and foremost (which also means that there are no real high-ISO samples on display, with ISO 640/29° being the highest sensitivity setting used)

Nikon Coolpix P510 Superzoom Announced

Earlier we saw the new Nikon Coolpix P310 compact camera, and now Nikon has announced the Nikon Coolpix P510, which is the replacement for the Nikon Coolpix P500.

The Nikon Coolpix P510 features a 42x optical zoom lens that has a range of 24mm to 1000mm (Equivalent in 35-mm [135] format), and it features the same 16.1 megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor that is found in the Coolpix P310.



The Nikon Coolpix P510 also features an an ISO range of up to 3200 or a Hi 1 setting which is equivalent to 6400, and it comes with Nikon’s lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function.

It also features built in GPS, an improved scene auto selector mode, and target finding auto-focus, and a range of preset modes which include nine scene modes–two Portrait options, Landscape, two Night Portrait options, Night Landscape, Close-up, and two Backlighting options.

Nikon D4 Specs Emerge Ahead Of Launch

Reports and rumours surrounding Nikon’s latest professional-level DSLR have been swirling around for some time now, and a report today suggests it could have a maximum ISO range of 204,800 and may be launched in less than a month's time.

The Nikon D4, successor to the D3 (below), has been subject to quite a lot of speculation in recent times but the guys over at Nikon Rumours have come up with a list of specs they consider to be on the money.

The Nikon D4 is set to have a 16.2 megapixel sensor, with an 11fps burst shooting mode and a native ISO range of between 100 and 102,400 which can be expanded to 50 and 204,800.



Canon’s latest pro-level camera, the EOS-1DX, has an ISO range which goes up to a maximum of 51,200 natively, though this is also expandable to 204,800.

The Nikon D4 will have an improved 51 AF points and there will also be improved video capture, and while details on this are not clear as yet, though 1080p video capture at 30fps is a reasonable guess. There will also be face detection.recognition features which will work in the viewfinder.

With Nikon also set to launch the more consumer friendly D800 very soon, we could be seeing both these models as soon as January, with the PMA photography trade show in Las Vegas on 10 January a likely showcase for the two new cameras.
