Nokia Lumia 610 shows up ahead of MWC

Nokia is expected to showcase a number of new devices at Mobile World Congress next week and one of these is expected to be a new Lumia 610 budget model.

Rumours emerged of the Nokia Lumia 610, reportedly running the anticipated Tango build of Microsoft's platform, and The Verge reported it had passed certification for Indonesia.

Techradar has since claimed that sources ‘close to the matter' revealed the Lumia 610 would arrive in the UK and would be a budget handset priced ‘aggressively'. It was even suggested that it may be a pre-pay only model.

It's the Tango platform itself that will be keeping the price down too, allegedly it'll only support screen resolutions up to 800x480 pixels and will run on only 256MB of RAM, while cameras for such devices will top-out at 3-megapixels.

There's no exact word on prices just yet but considering the Lumia 710, the budget Windows Phone Mango model, retails for around the £200 mark, in some cases less, you can expect it to be cheaper still.

For that to be profitable something has to give, however, and you can bet it'll be materials and external build quality. Not that it'll fall apart or anything, but if you hold even the Lumia 800 and 710 side-by-side the difference is palpable.
