Akai debuts MPC Fly pad controller for the iPad 2

With NAMM going on, we guess we can’t really say we’re surprised to see a variety of musical tools and gadgets popping up, but that’s not a bad thing especially for the musician that needs/wants to cook up some tunes while on the move. Adding to that list would be Akai and the MPC Fly pad controller for the iPad 2.

The MPC Fly by Akai has been described as a compact music production center and features a double hinge which docks the iPad, allowing it to sit upright, lie flat or even be closed up as a clamshell for traveling. It features 16 MPC pads and will come with support for the MPC app. The app itself features a four-track mixer and comes preloaded with samples and drums and will support the recording of external sounds and sequences.

The app will feature your standard range of effects, such as delay and compression. It even allows for sharing on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud. Users will also be able to export the tracks onto their PC or Mac for further editing. Unfortunately no word on pricing or availability just yet.
