Sony Ercisson Xperia range gets the Ice Cream Sandwich treatment

Sony Ericsson will rollout Ice Cream Sandwich updates in Spring 2012
Sony Ericsson has let the cat out the bag on the subject of Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0.
The company told The Verge that the latest version of Google’s operating system would hit its Xperia range of phones in Spring this year, alongside a rollout of the new build for the Sony Tablet P and Sony Tablet S devices.
The Verge reports that ICS builds for the Tablet P and S are already being tested at Sony and that the company hinted it would add ‘some really cool unique bits’ on top of Google’s platform, though it wouldn’t disclose exactly what.
Equally under wraps is any kind of precise release date within that rather wide bracket of ‘Spring’ and any indication of exactly which Xperia phones would be getting the update.
It’s good to hear more devices are getting a rollout as the new build generally offers one of the best Android experiences to date.
Certainly the Xperia range is due for a bit of a face lift and we rather liked the two Sony tablets so an updated operating system will make them that much more appealing.
As Sony reveals a more precise date closer to Spring we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
