Rogers expands LTE coverage in Toronto and Vancouver, now reaches 8 million Canadians

The Canadian LTE race is still on, very much heated, between Rogers and Bell. Both companies are quickly expanding coverage area – last week Bell turned on the LTE speed in Yellowknife, and today Rogers has announced they now reach 8 million Canadians, up from 5.5 million with their original coverage.
The Rogers LTE coverage has been expanded in Toronto and Vancouver areas. For those in the GTA, residents of Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham can access peak download speeds of “up to 75 Mbps”, however, “typical download speeds ranging from 12 Mbps to 25 Mbps”. In addition, Vancouver customers, Rogers is first to bring West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Surrey and Maple Ridge LTE coverage.
Rogers noted that the “LTE network will expand to more than 30 per cent of the population by the end of 2011.” Device wise, Rogers has the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, HTC Raider LTE, HTC Jetstream (tablet) and a couple internet sticks.
