Apple's App Store hits 500,000

It’s official, boyee. Apple’s App Store has hit another landmark with a whopping 500,000 apps now available.
Of those 500,000 it’s estimated that 450,000 are must-haves, 40,000 are nice-to-haves, and 10,000 are simply ok. Ahh, I crack me up.

As I so hilariously suggested in paragraph 2, quantity counts for nothing, especially when you consider some of the absolute dross on the App Store.
Here are some of the great apps you can download for your iPhone or iPad, right now! Check 'em:
  • Fart!!
  • Fart!
  • iFart Mobile
  • Atomic Fart
  • Fart Piano
  • BaconFarts
  • Fart for Free
  • Fart Sounds
  • Fart Cushion
Had enough yet?
  • Tap-and-Fart!
  • Fart Machine Extreme
  • Fart Factory
  • Fart Studio
  • Bluetooth Fart
  • Monster Fart
  • 1,000,000 Fart Generator
  • Fart Shaker Deluxe
  • Mega Fart Machine
And so on and so forth.
I’m not having a go at the App Store; the Android Market is just as bad. I’m simply pointing out that quality is far more important than quantity. That’s all.
Back in October, we heard that 500,000 apps had been published in the Android Market’s lifetime, however 180,000 had been removed during an ongoing clean-up operation.
At that time, it was estimated that the App Store – which generally has stricter controls – had binned 24% of its apps.
Anyway... congratulations, Apple!
