Samsung has never been a fan of “one size fits all”, as evidenced by the four flavours of its Android-based Galaxy Tab tablet.
You can currently grab the Samsung Galaxy Tab in 7, 8.9 or 10.1in format, a 7.7in model is on the horizon too, and now a source of BGR reports that a massive 11.6in variant is in the works.
Unlike many leaks where we’re simply given a name and left to guess what it all means, this source apparently couldn’t stop blabbing. “Excellent!” as Bill and Ted would say.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 is expected to rock – as the name reveals – an 11.6in display, with an insane-o 2560x1600 resolution. The iPad 3, meanwhile, has been rumoured with a 2048x1536 res.
According to el sourcio, the Ice Cream Sandwich-runnning Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 won’t be much bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, thanks to a thinner bezel.
In terms of processing juice, word is it’ll be that spanking new Samsung Exynos 5250 chip we heard about last week, clocked at 2GHz. Samsung boasts that it’ll “deliver readability equivalent to real paper" for the "ultimate electronic reading experience.”
The tablet will also feature Android Beam, allowing for easy syncing between your Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. There’ll also be a wireless docking mode for gaming on HDTVs.
Samsung (unsurprisingly) declined to comment, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this fella turn up at Mobile World Congress in February.
