HTC One X Tegra 3 Android Smartphone Photo Leaked

HTC has been teasing what they are going to unveil at MWC 2012 next week, one of those devices is the new HTC One X, which is reported to be HTC’s first quad core Android smartphone.

Now we have our first press shot of the HTC One X, and the device is reported to come with a quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.
Other specifications on the HTC One X include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, plus a 4.7 inch Super LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The device is also reported top come with an 8 megapixel camera which will be able to record full high definition video in 1080p and will also feature a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera.

As soon as we get some full specifications, and some more photos on the HTC One X we will let you guys know.

HTC Evo Shift 4G and White EVO 3D Set to Hit End of Life?

It looks like a couple of Sprint’s devices are about to hit end of life. One of them is quite recent. It’s the white edition of the HTC EVO 3D. Looks like black is the more popular choice with that particular phone as that version is safe. The EVO Shift 4G is also on the list. It was a mid-range alternative to the main EVO line with its unique keyboard compared to other EVO devices.
Remember, just because these devices will soon be off store shelves doesn’t mean you won’t be able to buy it elsewhere or get software updates. That’s especially important for those of you with the white EVO 3D as that device is set to get Ice Cream Sandwich sometime soon. [via SprintFeed]

WIND officially releases the HTC Radar

Here it is, WIND Mobile’s first Windows Phone 7 powered device, the HTC Radar. As revealed last week this this is now available and “in stock” for $99 on WINDtab+ or $399 outright. The WP7 device is described as an “intuitive phone that keeps it all on your radar and lets you get real-time close… with everything”. Specs have the Radar coming with a 3.8-inch display that has a resolution of 480 x 800, 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera that captures 720p HD videos, and is made of one “single piece of polished metal”. Overall weight is 137g and has a 1520mAH battery.

Sony PlayStation games on HTC soon

Sony PlayStation games – previously only available on Sony Ericsson mobiles – could soon be coming to other platforms, with HTC first in line. The announcement, leaked by an insider, could come officially atMobile World Congress later this month.

The Sony certification program is a cross-platform genius-idea that means Android smartphones and tablets could soon have access to PlayStation branded classics like Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider or even Uncharted.

First in line for PlayStation certification is HTC – and between its Beats Audio-toting smartphones and quad-core Tegra 3 Endeavour handset, it could give even the PS Vita a run for its money. Will Apple ever get on board with Sony’s scheme? Seems unlikely at this stage, but if it wants to compete it might need to start thinking about playing with the other kids at the sandpit soon.

Apple iPhone 5 Vs HTC One X-Comparision

Apple's flagship smartphone (poularly called the iPhone 5) is expected to be unveiled at the WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) this June, according to the latest reports by the Daily Mail and, quite naturally, as its release date draws closer, talk about comparisons with other quad-core gadgets starts circulating.

Meanwhile, the HTC Edge - re-christened as Endeavor or One X - has hogged the limelight for months now, spurred on by very attractive configurations. The most adorable jewel in the One X's crown is undoubtedly the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia, as restless fans eagerly anticipate its grand unveiling at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona.

Besides the crunching power of a quad-core processor, the iPhone 5 is also expected to be the first waterproof smartphone, courtesy a nanotech coating over the chip; this won't be the only such phone though. Expect Samsung to to take a cue from Apple and offer the same technology on its own flagship smartphone - the Galaxy S3.

Display: Earlier rumoured to sport an AMOLED display, the HTC One X is now expected to ship a Super LCD version instead. Though it sounds a little dubious, one cannot rule out new speculations with changing naming conventions - Edge to Endeavor and then Endeavor to One X. Besides, the display is expected to be a massive 4.7-inch screen with 720p HD capability.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 could flaunt a 4-inch Quantum Dot LED curved glass edge-to-edge display with a high resolution (1280x720) 720p HD screen at a pixel density of 367ppi.

Processor and Memory: The new HTC phone will feature the powerful NVIDIA 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM onboard. The iPhone 5 too will be powered by a blazing-fast (1.2 to 1.5 GHz) A6 quad-core processor with 1GB or more of RAM onboard.

Operating System: The One X is likely to port Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onboard coupled with the HTC Sense 4.0 user interface, whereas Apple might just bring out its new OS - iOS 6 - along with this launch.

Camera: Apple's new iPhone is expected to harbor at least a 12 megapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash, besides a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chats alongside a probable 3D functionality. The HTC flagship smartphone will sport an 8 megapixel 1080p rear-facing camera, besides a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.

Connectivity (3G/4G, WLAN/Bluetooth/USB): The iPhone 5 is expected to feature both NFC and 4G LTE technologies, besides WLAN, Bluetooth and USB. However, the One X is likely to harbour HSDPA or HSUPA 3G networks instead of the 4G LTE service.

Storage: Neither the iPhone 5 nor the One X will feature support for external microSD cards. The former will ship in three sizes of onboard memory - 16, 32 and 64GB, while the latter will ship with a 32GB model only.

Battery: The new iPhone is expected to ship with a bigger 1420 mAh battery, which is expected to deliver superior battery life. This translates into approximately 8 hours of talk time on 3G networks and up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM) networks. The One X will feature an 1800 mAh battery and is expected to better iPhone 5 in the battery-life department.

Pricing: Expect both smartphones - iPhone 5 and One X to be competitively priced in the range between £500 to £550

HTC patent infringement claim against Apple dismissed by ITC

Back in July when Monday Night Patent Infringement was kicking off, HTC purchased a company called S3 for $300 million. The Taiwan based companywanted control over some patents owned by the company. Although not a terribly large company, S3 was responsible for graphics on computers, mobile devices and gaming consoles. Back in November, the ITC ruled that Apple had not violated any of the patents that HTC had acquired from S3. HTC decided to appeal the initial ruling. Unfortunately for the manufacturer, on Friday the ITCdismissed the appeal and although there are options, going 0 for 2 in court is usually a sign that you need to cut your losses.

The battle between the two companies started in March 2010 when Apple filed a suit against HTC with the ITC. HTC retaliated and the ITC eventually found no violation on Apple's part. In October 211, an ALJ made an initial ruling that Apple did not violate 4 HTC patents and the latter withdrew a complaint on a 5th patent. HTC asked for an appeal by the 6 member ITC to review the ruling. In December, the ITC agreed, but only for one of HTC's patents. The ruling Friday ends the filings and investigations on that one patent.

S3 had its own infringement case against Apple, possibly motivated by Apple's actions against HTC. At a time when it looked like S3 might win the case, HTC made the decision to buy the company and take over the patents. In November, the ITC ruled in favor of Apple. According to FOSS Patents, with only 5% of smartphone patents ruled as being violated by the ITC, companies are turning to the German courts, especially the Mannheim Regional Court and the Munich I Regional Court, for relief.

In December, Apple won an import ban against HTC devices that infringed on the '647 patent relating to "data tapping" or the tapping on phone numbers to call someone back. HTC worked around this by removing the offending technology and said it is rarely used. FOSS Patents sees Apple looking to broaden the scope of the ruling by getting a ruling that another patent had been violated by appealing to the Federal Circuit. Meanwhile, for the rest of 2012, we probably will not see any final rulings in the U.S. on Apple's claims against HTC since all of the former's Federal lawsuits against HTC have been stayed by the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. A preliminary ruling from the ITC is due in November on Apple's second complaint against HTC. Nothing might come up until next year in Germany where Apple has two suits filed against HTC for four patents, two in Munich and two in Mannheim.

Last summer, HTC filed a suit against Apple, claiming that the latter illegally infringed upon 9 patents Google gave to HTC for the express reason to sue Apple. Of course, it will be up to the court to determine if these 9 patents offer a stronger case against Apple than the one that was tossed on Friday.

Guide: How to update your HTC Explorer

This guide shows you how to keep your HTC Explorer up-to-date
Software updates improve your phone by making it more secure and fixing any bugs that might have crept into the operating system or interface overlay. To keep up-to-date you'll want to check for new ones fairly regularly.

From the homescreen tap the ‘All apps' icon in the bottom left-hand tab.
Tap ‘Settings'.
Tap ‘About phone'.
Tap Software updates'.
Tap ‘Check now' at the bottom of the screen.
After a moment the phone will tell you if there are no updates or if there is an update you'll be prompted to confirm that you want to install it.
Tapping ‘Install' will download the update and apply it to your phone which may take a little while. Once completed the phone may restart too.

HTC Confirms More North American Phones for Ice Cream Sandwich

HTC took to Facebook today to confirm that more of their phones would be getting Ice Cream Sandwich. They called it the “North America edition” because all of these devices can be had on the illustrious continent. We’ve got the Rezound, which was already confirmed, alongside the DROID Incredible 2, the HTC Thunderbolt and the HTC Rhyme – it’s pretty much a Verizon affair, here. Above the US borders, Canadians who use Rogers and Bell’s HTC Raider will also be seeing the upgrade to Android 4.0. Unfortunately, we get no release window but at least we know that these devices will be getting them (and I’d bet a pretty penny that they’ll be getting them this year).

HTC One X Android Smartphone Details Leaked

Yesterday we heard that the rumored HTC Endeavor will be called the HTC One X and now it looks like we have some more information on the device including a range of specifications.

The HTC One X will apparently come with a quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and will feature on screen software buttons for navigation instead of hardware buttons.

The handset will feature a Super LCD display, and Beats Audio, with an FM Radio, and Beats stereo headphones, plus a microSIM card slot and it is reported to come with Android 4.0.5 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The HTC One X will also come with a 8 megapixel camera which will be able to record full high definition video in 1080p and will also feature a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera

How to connect to Wi-Fi on the HTC Sensation

This tutorial explains how to connect to wireless networks using your HTC Sensation
Connecting to Wi-Fi allows you to access faster internet speeds and save on your mobile data costs. Here's how you set it up:

From the homescreen, press the ‘Menu' key.
Tap ‘Settings'.
Tap ‘Wireless & networks'.
Check the ‘Wi-Fi' checkbox to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone will now search for nearby networks and create a list under the ‘Wi-Fi networks' section.
Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to and tap ‘Connect':

If it's an open network you'll be able to connect straight away. However, bear in mind that some unsecured networks may still have security in place which will mean you'll need to enter a username and password into the phone's browser window before you can access the internet.
A secured network will need you to enter a password to proceed.

You should be able to obtain any required login details from your network administrator.
If the network you want doesn't appear on the list it may be a hidden network. You can tap ‘Add Wi-Fi network' to add it manually - you'll need the network name and possibly a password to do this.

More HTC One X Details Revealed – Super LCD Display, Non-Removable Memory and Optional Speaker Dock

The HTC One X (formerly Edge/Endeavor) is getting all primped and proper for its red carpet debut at this year’s Mobile World Congress in just a few short weeks. Although we already know a few of the device’s specs thanks to a leaked ROM
Apparently, the HTC One X will include the fan-favorite onscreen buttons, suitable for the latest version of Android 4.0 and the all new Sense 4.0. Other details include an optional speaker dock with Beats Audio earbuds coming standard, micro SIM card slot. Less flattering details revealed that the One X will come equipped with a 4.7-inch Super LCD display and not the previously rumored AMOLED with a 2 color green/amber notification LED. Oh, and the device will not have expandable memory instead opting for 32GB of pre-installed non-removable memory.
Nothing too surprising here, and even with these new leaked deets, the HTC One X is still looking like a beastly device. I’m wondering — any of readers ready to trade-in/up their Galaxy Nexuses for the One X?

HTC Sensation and Sensation XE to get limited 'early access preview' of Android 4.0 in Europe

We've just received word from HTC that it'll be releasing what it's billing as an "early access preview" of its Android 4.0 upgrades for the Sensation and Sensation XEhandsets in Europe. The company says that it hopes users will "play with it and enjoy getting used to the ICS experience with Sense," which implies that there'll be changes toHTC's skin in this build — something we've been expecting for quite some time anyway. You won't just be able to download the build at will — HTC will initially only be offering it to members of its Elevate beta program — and T-Mobile subscribers using the Sensation 4G won't be included. That's a shame, but there's a silver lining: the company says that it'll be doing similar previews for other phones in its portfolio in the future. Meanwhile, look for the Sensation and Sensation XE builds to roll out to selected individuals "in the coming days."

HTC's move is likely in response to a groundswell of interest for Android OEMs to be more upfront about their upgrade plans; we've already seen Sony do something similar for several of its models (albeit on a wider scale). Motorola, meanwhile, is being honest about its laggy ICS upgrade schedule — but so far, no public previews

HTC Working On Music Streaming Service?

According to a recent report by GigaOM, HTC is working on a new music streaming service for its range of mobile devices and tablets, the service could possibly be similar to something like Spotify.

HTC purchased the controlling stake in Beat Audio last year, and since then we have seen a range of new smartphones and devices with integrated Beat Audio, so music is obviously high on the companies agenda.

The company is also expected to launch a range of music friendly hardware to go along with it range of smartphones and tablets, so we can probably expect to see some Beats Audio speakers and other wireless devices announced at MWC.

The new music streaming service from HTC is expected to come pre-installed or integrated into new HTC devices, although it isn’t clear as yet whether this new service will be free or whether you will have to pay a subscription.Source Slashgear

How to update, restart and reset your HTC Rhyme

We show you how to keep your phone updated and how to restart and reset the device if you encounter problems
This guide will show you how to update your phone's firmware and how to restart and reset the phone, both with the interface menus and with the phone's hardware keys - in the event that the screen stops responding.
How to update the handsetIt's a good idea to make sure your HTC Rhyme is as up-to-date as possible by checking for new software updates regularly. This will make your phone more secure and can fix bugs and add new features over time.

From the homescreen, press the phone's ‘Menu' button.
Tap ‘Settings'.
Tap ‘Software updates'.
Tap ‘Check new'.
If there's a new update the phone will prompt you to install it. Follow the on-screen instructions - eventually you'll be prompted to tap ‘Install now'. You'll then be asked to confirm this step by tapping ‘OK'.
When the update is complete the phone will restart automatically.

How to restart an unresponsive handsetIf the phone becomes unresponsive you can restart it without using the touchscreen interface.

Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then release. The phone will switch off.
Press the power button to turn the phone back on. Hopefully this should fix an unresponsive freeze-up.

How to perform a factory resetIf the phone has a serious problem you can try restoring it to factory default settings by performing a factory reset, also known as a hard reset.
Note, however, you should be absolutely sure you want to go ahead with one because it will wipe all your stored data permanently.
If possible you should back up any important data before going any further.

From the homescreen, press the ‘Menu' key.
Tap ‘Settings'.
Tap ‘SD & phone storage'.
Tap ‘Factory data reset'.
Tap ‘Reset phone'.
Tap ‘Erase everything' to confirm.
The phone will take a few moments to perform the reset and then restart automatically.

How to perform a factory reset on an unresponsive handsetIf the phone is unresponsive you can perform a factory reset using the handset's physical controls

Press and hold the Volume Down button and briefly press the Power button.
A screen with a picture of three Androids should appear, when it does release the Volume Down button.
Use the Volume Down button to cycle down the menu which appears and highlight ‘Factory reset'.
Press the Power button to select ‘Factory reset'.
The phone should now go through the reset process and will restart automatically.

HTC PlayStation certification devices coming 2012, time to get your Crash Bandicoot skills up to scratch

HTC is to be one of the first companies outside Sony that will be getting PlayStation certification for its mobile devices

The announcement expected later this year, possibly at the forthcoming trade show Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, will mean thatHTC smartphone and tablet owners will eventually be able to play Sony PlayStation certified games, such as Crash Bandicoot and other classic PSOne titles.

The Sony PlayStation certification program was first announced over a year ago at the launch of the Sony PlayStation Vita in Japan.

“It expands the PlayStation experience beyond the PSP border. It is the first cross-platform endeavour,” said Kaz Hirai, then Sony Computer Entertainment CEO and soon to be president and CEO of the whole of the Sony corporation.

Sony's PlayStation Suite and the certification program is a cross-platform initiative for Android smartphones and tablets, aimed at appealing to manufacturers and gamers alike as the company tries to continue its success in the heavily competitive field of mobile gaming.

For the manufacturer, it gets access to some great PlayStation games, while gamers get to relive their PSOne days, albeit on their smartphone. Although, it must be said, it's taken a while for phone makers to jump on board.

Such a move will be a big boost for HTC, giving it a gaming focus as well as a music one (thanks to its partnership with Beats Audio). It'll help in its fight with Samsung and Apple, who have managed to streak ahead in sales and popularity in the last year.

When we asked HTC about PlayStation certification for its devices, the company said it couldn't "comment on rumors or speculation". However, our source suggests that certification will be awarded in the second half of 2012.

HTC Sense 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich UI seen in a leaked ROM

Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich has done a fantastic job of revamping the stock Android UI. Suffice to say that it has garnered loads of critical acclaim, but that does not stop hardware OEMs from creating their own custom Android skins. HTC for long provided its Sense UI for its Android devices, and now it’s working on a new version of Sense optimized for the latest version of Android. The folks at Android Central took a closer look at the latest version of Sense and have posted a few screenshots of the UI which they received through a leaked ROM of the HTC Endeavor. At a glance it is definitely reminiscent of Sense 3.5, but there are few key difference. Firstly, the stock Ice Cream Sandwich lock screen is no where to be seen, instead we get the Sense lock ring, but this time around in different colors, and different designs. Secondly, the leap preview has been totally redesigned with a card like view. Another new thing that I have noticed is the presence of a more traditional dock, apart from having new widgets.
Previously we had seen a video of the HTC Sense interface on the HTC Ville, and I must admit that the interface is very similar to what we have seen on the Endeavor. Admittedly I would still prefer the stock ICS launcher, but I must say that the new version of Sense looks quite intriguing. In all probability, we will get the taste of the Sense UI soon enough as it should be launched at MWC later this month.

HTC Endeavour to be shown off at MWC 2012

HTC has been taking the first part of its slogan pretty seriously of late – by being quiet more than brilliant, but we’re pretty sure it will have something to amaze us in a few weeks time at MWC 2012. The Taiwanese company is rumored to have the device that might just steal the show. Called the HTC Endeavour, it is supposed to feature a 4.7″ display with 720p HD resolution, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, an 8-megapixel camera, and of course – a quad-core Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA.
Sounds like a nice large phone that Android users might be looking for – especially if they liked the HTC TITAN, but wished that it had better specs and ran on Android instead of Windows Phone. Definitely something to look forward to in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

HTC says Android 4.0 ICS updates for select phones will arrive by late March

HTC has announced via its official Facebook page that the first round of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for its smartphones will arrive by the end of March. The first round of phones includes the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G, and HTC Sensation XE, with the HTC Sensation XL trailing close behind. Additionally, HTC has revealed that Ice Cream Sandwich will come for the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S, and HTC Desire HD later this year.
